FINALLY CAUGHT UP!!!!

I am sooooo sorry I have been so behind in updating my blog. Now after 8 new posts I think we are finally all caught up. I am hoping life stays a little less crazy for a week or two until we have to put it in full gear for the Diabetes Walk. I hope you enjoy catching up with us. I promise to be so much better about keeping on top of things.

Craft and Hobby Fair

Yesterday Logan's third grade class put on their craft and hobby fair at school. The class was able to take in items they had made, or collect, and things to show what their hobbies are. It was fun to see all the items the kids had brought to display. Logan took all of his baseball's and trophies from baseball, along with his Pokemon cards and smashed penny collection. I really enjoyed going and seeing how proud they all were to show off their stuff.

Pack Meeting

Every month on the last Wed. we have Pack Meeting for Cub Scouts. This month for pack meeting our wolves den earned 46 awards alone. That includes pins, belt loops, and patches. The boys earned a lot of their awards at Cub Country this year, plus some at various den meetings and also on their own. Amy and I our so proud of our group of wolves. I am so glad to have such a great group of boys and a great partner to do scouts with. Keep up the great work boys!!!

After all the awards were given out to the 3 different dens, they had a guest speaker come to talk to the boys and share his interests in reptiles. I stayed to listen to him talk about his breaded dragons, but as soon as he started to mention snakes I was out of there. I went out into the hall with my friends baby and waited for it to be over. While I was out there Ry was picked to hold one of the snakes, and so Brandon took loads of pics for me (isn't he just super nice)!!! I absolutely hate snakes but Riley said I had to put the pics on here for everyone to see YUCK!! I now have the creepy crawlies because of these great pics, but I guess at least my kids don't have my same fear. However that doesn't mean they will ever own a pet snake!!!

Wheeler Farm

We took our scout den on a field trip to Wheeler Historic Farm so they could earn a patch. They boys had to answer questions about the farm, the animals, and the machinery that is used on a farm, they also had to milk a cow while we were there in order to earn their patch. We also went on a very HOT wagon ride and fed the ducks. The boys had fun getting some of their energy out. After we went to Burger King for dinner, (the boys choice). They all ate their food and got really hyper just in time for us to take them home. The only downside to it all was one of the kids was mine and one was our other leaders, what were we thinking!!! However it is great to see the boys work so hard to earn new patches and awards, way to go wolves.

First Day of School 2009

Well it was that time of year again for us to track back on for the 2009-2010 school year. Logan missed the actual first day of school so we could go to Grandma's funeral. So he started the next day instead. I can't believe I have a third grader already, it doesn't seem possible. Logan was very excited to start school and be in the third grade. He has a lot of his friends in his class again this year, and many new faces too. He is loving the third grade so far this year.

Riley started Kindergarten a week and one day after Logan. He was soooo excited to be a big kid and go to school like his brother. Ry is in afternoon kindergarten and loves his teacher. When I took him to school for his first day he informed me he was a big kid and didn't need to hold my hand or give kisses goodbye. After I left him I totally cried like a baby lol. It was so different coming home to such a quiet house. When I picked him up after school he asked what I did without him. I told him "I cried without you". He just shook his head and said "Oh MOM"!! However the next day when I went to drop him off without hugs and kisses, he came running back up to me and said "Mom" and held out his arms for a hug and kiss. I guess he isn't too bug for them just yet!!! I am finding I have extra time with NO kids at home for a few hours everyday. My house even stays cleaner a lot easier now amazingly enough. I still miss my boys and can't believe how big they are getting, I wish I could freeze time.

Cub Country 2009

On July 20th and 21st I went to Cub Country with my cub scout den. I am the assistant leader for the wolves. The boys had a lot of fun the two days we went. The first day was all about space the final frontier. The first day they boys did rockets, archery, astronomy, an obstacle course, and paper airplanes. On day two it was all about the wild west. They boys learned about Indian lore, knot tying, the U.S. flag, BB Guns, lasso's, horseshoes, and nature. I was absolutely beat after the two days. It was a lot of fun and they boys earned quiet a few belt loops and patches.

Grandma Gunn

We lost Brandon's Grandma Gunn on July 22nd, 2009, after her long battle with cancer. She was the rock in the family for many. I had been doing her hair for the past 6 years, and I had grown very close to her. We had the most amazing conversations while doing her hair. I was able to get the chance to do her hair and have one last great conversation with her a few weeks before she passed. We were able to go and spend an afternoon with her as a family before she took the turn for the worse. I am very thankful for the fact that we were able to spend time with her while she still was Grandma and say our good-byes. She was surrounding by all of her children when she passed. We miss her so much, but are very thankful she is no longer suffering. My father-in law and his siblings asked me to do her hair one last time and I accepted. It was a very hard, but peaceful time for me and I am so thankful I was able to do it. We will miss you Grandma, but you will be forever in our hearts !!!

Happy 30th Brandon !!!

Happy 30th birthday to my amazing husband, I realize I am posting this late but our lives have been super crazy!!! I can't believe Brandon turned 30 on July 19th, 2009. I have been with him for almost half of his life which is really crazy to think about. Brandon is such a amazing husband and father to our two boys. He works so hard everyday to provide for us as a family. We love him so much for all of his love and hard work. I hope 30 was a memorable birthday for you honey. One more year and I will be right there with you, leaving the twenties behind!!!

Riley Turns 5 !!!

I can't believe it has possibly been 5 years!!! My baby Riley Brandon Gunn was born 5 years ago on July 16th, 2009. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz when he was born and was 19 1/2 inches long. We have loved him since the first moment we saw him in our ultrasound. Riley is our very busy child since the time he started to crawl. He loves to get into loads of trouble and blame it on his brother. Our lives wouldn't be the same without him. Happy Birthday Riley Bug !!!
