The Diabetes Walk

Well much to our dismay the weather didn't cooperate for the walk. The day started off cold and got worse from there. We were rained on first, then it seemed as though it was going to clear up, when it suddenly started pouring rain and turned to snow. We all still walked and had a great time and used each others body heat to stay warm. Marisa came and took all the team photos for the walk. She was awesome to stay as long as she did and freeze like the rest of us. The pictures she took were greatly appreciated and she did a great job, especially with the weather conditions. The worst part of the whole thing was that the next day the weather was absolutely beautiful. I couldn't believe that it had snowed the day before and then turned around and was beautiful on Sunday. It was really quiet depressing, but despite the weather for the walk we still had a great turn out. We had over 817 walkers participate, and raised over $100,000 for research and advocacy. Way to go everyone!!!!! Thanks for everyones love and support and all who walked with us it was a memorable day.

"Step Out For Diabetes"

Hey everyone we are doing the Diabetes walk again this year. It takes place on September 29th at This is the Place Hertitage Park and ends at the Zoo. We would love to have more people come out and join us in a great cause and have funn at the same time. You can register now until the morning of the walk. They ask that everyone over the age of 17 have at least a $15 donation or sponsorship. The walk includes breakfast, lunch and entrance into the Zoo. It's a day full of fun and excitement. I'm on the committee for the walk so if anyone has any questions let me know. My dad wants to have shirts made for our team so if you think you are going to join us please let me know.

Baseball Game

We went to the Orem Owlz game and it was so much fun for our whole family. We didn't make it to the game in time for Logan to throw out the opening pitch. However they gave him a commemorative baseball. He was so extremely excited and wouldn't let anyone else touch it. About half way through the game they came and asked Logan if he would sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" and "Happy Birthday" to the Owlz mascot. I never in a million years would have thought that he would actually do it. He actually got up and went out on top of the dugout and sang as loud as he could it was so neat to see him. I was so proud of him, and couldn't believe how grownup he looked. On the drive home he fell asleep in the back seat of the car with his baseball in his hand it was a priceless night. I will remember it for a long time to come.

Wyoming Trip

We went to Starvalley, Wyoming on August 24th til August 27th. We stayed at my dad's property in our in-laws motorhome. We had so much fun while we were there. We got to ride the 4 wheelers, go swimming, and went to Jackson Hole. While we were there my brother-in-law turned us on to Geocaching. It is like a treasure hunt that you do with a hand held GPS. You look them up on the web for the area you are at. It then gives you the coordinates for different locations of geocaches. Then you can go out and search for the geocache. When you find one there is a log book inside for you to sign and all kinds of different stuff. You can take anything you want out of the box, but you have to replace it with something else. There are also trackable items that you don't keep but you take and move them to a different geocache. You can then watch these items and see where they go. Our kids had so much fun, it was a great new experience. We looked them up on the web for our area and there are a bunch within a 20 mile radius of our house. So now we have a new activity to do when Logan is off track.

While we were at Starvalley we went over to Freedom, Idaho, which is right on the boarder. They have a farm of elk there that you can feed with your kids which was really neat. We also went to the old cemetary there which was cool to see all the old headstones. It was such a great escape to go and getaway for a few days. It was hard to come home, I wish we would have had a few more days to spend there.

Baseball

This friday night, August 31st, it's the American Diabetes Association night at the Orem Owlz Baseball game. Logan gets to throw out the opening pitch at the game. He is really looking forward to it. We have tickets for sale if anyone would like to buy them and go. I know it is a holiday weekend, so if you already have plans no big deal. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. in Orem, and the tickets are $4.00 each. If you want any of the tickets you can make a post or call me at home 679-1300.

Diabetes Walk and Fundraiser

I just want to let everyone know that on Saturday August 18th we are going to be doing a fundraiser for the "Step Out for Diabetes" walk. We are going to having it at my house, 5478 Ticklegrass Rd. West Jordan, Ut. We will have raffle items, bake goods, food and more. We are doing the fundraiser to help raise money for the ADA ( American Diabetes Association ) to find a cure for Diabetes. I hope some of you can come by and check it out.

Our family will also be participating in the actual walk on the 29th of September. Our goal as a family/team is to raise at least $3,000 for the walk. Last year our team brought in $2,452, we are hoping to pass that this year. We also want to have as many people as possible to walk with us on our team. It is a great cause and a fun event for the whole family. The walk takes place at This is the Place Heritage Park and ends at the Hogle Zoo. If you would like to check out any of our teams page you can go to www.diabetes.org/walk. Our team name is Logan's Family and Friends. I hope you can check it out, we had so much fun last year. Thanks for everyone's love and support, it means so much to Logan and our whole family.

The latest news in our Family.

There isn't too much going on at the moment. Logan just started swimming lessons for the first time. He is having a lot of fun and learning how to swim. He just finished his baseball season and he gets to play in his first All Star game this coming Sat. the 23rd. Other than that we don't have much else going on. Riley will turn 3 next month on the 16th which is sure to be fun. I am busy with my committee meetings for the American Diabetes Association. I will be helping out with Diabetes Clubhouse next month on the 11th and 12th, which Logan will be attending. Brandon and me have been working hard in our yard trying to get it nice for the summer and making some improvements. We don't have too much more to do so I can't wait. Well that is pretty much it. I will keep things updated.
