We lost Brandon's Grandma Gunn on July 22nd, 2009, after her long battle with cancer. She was the rock in the family for many. I had been doing her hair for the past 6 years, and I had grown very close to her. We had the most amazing conversations while doing her hair. I was able to get the chance to do her hair and have one last great conversation with her a few weeks before she passed. We were able to go and spend an afternoon with her as a family before she took the turn for the worse. I am very thankful for the fact that we were able to spend time with her while she still was Grandma and say our good-byes. She was surrounding by all of her children when she passed. We miss her so much, but are very thankful she is no longer suffering. My father-in law and his siblings asked me to do her hair one last time and I accepted. It was a very hard, but peaceful time for me and I am so thankful I was able to do it. We will miss you Grandma, but you will be forever in our hearts !!!
Happy 30th birthday to my amazing husband, I realize I am posting this late but our lives have been super crazy!!! I can't believe Brandon turned 30 on July 19th, 2009. I have been with him for almost half of his life which is really crazy to think about. Brandon is such a amazing husband and father to our two boys. He works so hard everyday to provide for us as a family. We love him so much for all of his love and hard work. I hope 30 was a memorable birthday for you honey. One more year and I will be right there with you, leaving the twenties behind!!!
I can't believe it has possibly been 5 years!!! My baby Riley Brandon Gunn was born 5 years ago on July 16th, 2009. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz when he was born and was 19 1/2 inches long. We have loved him since the first moment we saw him in our ultrasound. Riley is our very busy child since the time he started to crawl. He loves to get into loads of trouble and blame it on his brother. Our lives wouldn't be the same without him. Happy Birthday Riley Bug !!!
This year we got an amazing opportunity given to us from The American Diabetes Association. We were given 4 tickets to go to The Stadium Of Fire and 4 passes to meet The Jonas Brothers. It was an absolutely amazing night. I have never seen so many screaming teenage girls in my life however. It was so funny as we were waiting to go in to meet The Jonas Brothers there were girls coming out that had already got to meet them. As they would come out they would run over to other friends screaming "NICK TOUCHED ME!!!!". It was crazy to see how gaga these girls were over 3 boys, mainly Nick though. We had to wait in line for almost and hour and a half just to meet them. When we finally got back to meet them it went pretty fast. They took all our bags and camera from us, and then took us behind a black curtain where The Jonas Brothers were standing. They were so polite and sweet, I couldn't believe it. Logan's whole day was made when Nick came up to him and told Logan "Stay strong and hang in there". After that he reached into his pocket and pulled out one of his guitar picks and gave it to Logan. It made me want to cry, I swear I am such a sappy mom. Poor Riley on the other hand was so star struck he could hardly talk to them. After they introduced themselves, and shook all our hands one of the body guards took our picture and shuffled us out, they wouldn't even let them autograph anything for anyone. The Million Of Screaming Fans Us With The Jonas Brothers After the meet and greet we headed to our seats for the show. We had great seats, we were on the front row off to the side of the stage and down a little. They started it all with an opening prayer, then Glen Beck came out and we all sang the National An theme. I felt so much patriotism all around, it was so amazing and touching. They did some really cool preshow dancing and fire dancing and such. Next was the opening preformers Shedaisy. They came out and there was a lot of cheers, they sang 3 songs and that was it. Next was another little group of dancers while they set the stage for The Jonas Brothers. The Flag Shedaisy When the dancers were done the fans went CRAZY!!!! I thought we were going to be deaf from all the screaming girls, as The Jonas Brothers took the stage. It was so much fun to watch my boys get so excited over a group/band. Brandon and I felt so OLD however with all the young kids and teenagers screaming all around us, it was pretty funny. The Jonas Brothers put on a great concert and we all had a great time. Joe Jonas Kevin Jonas Nick and Joe Jonas The Jonas Brothers After The Jonas Brothers were done the fireworks started. Remember how I said we had such great seats??? Well not so great for the fireworks. As we started watching the beautiful fireworks we started to notice ash falling all over us. We were right where all the ash fell from the fireworks, if you looked up you had to be careful not to open your mouth. Luckily we all survived the ash in the end. They did a short intermission in between the fireworks so the could do a flag burning ceremony. I can't even express into words just how amazing this was to watch. Glen Beck got choked up as he was telling about the flag they were about to burn. I totally got choked up myself and started to cry, it was so touching and many other things. After they flag was loaded into the metal urn type thing and sealed. It then started on fire and lit this torch thing next to it. It was so freaking cool!!!! The fireworks started soon after along with more ash. When it was all over our boys couldn't stop saying how great of a night it was. They both told us it was their BEST DAY EVER!!! I have to say it was one of many for me, just to see my boys faces and be there as a family. I am so proud to be an american. We are all so lucky for our freedom and the many things we have. I hope everyone had as good of holiday as we did. Fireworks Fireworks Flag Burning All Wore Out
My mother-in-law ran us around to some of the many errands we had to get done today. She treated us to lunch, took us to Ry's doctors appt, then to the vinyl letter store, then on to Pace's Dairy Ann for ice cream since Ry did so good getting his shots. As if all that wasn't enough we had to go and pick up their motorhome in Draper. On our way home we saw a new doughnut place. Well my father-in-law is a big sweet freak, so my mother-in-law said lets stop. Well once we were in there, there was no going back!!! The place is called Beyond Glaze, they make gourmet doughnuts. OH MY GOSH !!!! There were not many to chose from, in fact we bought the last 7 doughnuts they had, all 7 a different flavor. We ended up with 4 of the 7. The flavors we got were Peanut Butter and Raspberry Jam, Smores, Raspberry Torte, and Cherry Chocolate. My In-laws ended up with Nutmeg, Raspberry Mango, and German Chocolate. They looked amazing and very rich. After dinner we sampled each of our 4 in order from best to worst is Raspberry Torte, Smores, Cherry Chocolate, then the Peanut Butter and Raspberry Jam. I feel like I gained 30lbs from 4 bites of doughnut. If you want to check-out the other flavors they have the website is www.beyondglaze.com Enjoy!!!!
As many of you know I do a lot of volunteer work for the American Diabetes Association, and that Logan is the Utah Youth Ambassador. Well last week while Logan was away at camp I received a phone call from them. They informed me that they had 2 tickets for Logan and I to go meet the Jonas Brothers and go to the Stadium of fire. I couldn't believe it, I was in shock and so excited all at the same time. I told them that we would love to go and thanked them very much for the opportunity. I was a little sad when I hung up the phone 1. Because I couldn't tell Logan and 2. Because they could only get us 2 tickets and we are a family of 4. When I told Brandon he was a little sad, but knew how much it would mean to Logan so he happily said to go and have a great time. When Logan came home from camp I told him about the concert and then dropped the bombshell that he was going to meet the Jonas Brothers besides!!!! He was thrilled to say the very least. After we got home there was a message on our voicemail for the ADA asking me to return their call ASAP. So I hurried and called them back and they informed me that they were able to talk to the manager of the Jonas Brothers and got us 2 more tickets!!!! So now our whole family will be meeting the Jonas Brothers and going to the Stadium of Fire on July 4th. I will post more after Saturday.
Well my little boy is growing up!!!! On Father's Day Logan and his cousin Camryn left for Diabetes camp. We dropped them off at 1:00pm on Sunday. I kept it together while we checked them in, saw their cabins, and met their counslers. As soon as we started to the car I already started to fall apart. I knew it was going to be a tough week, I just didn't think it would come on so fast. I haven't been away from Logan in 3 and a half years for more then a night or two and he was always with family then. Even though the staff and counslers all were very well organized and well staffed, the mom in me felt like they wouldn't be good enough. I ended up getting through the 6 days 5 nights okay, however Logan didn't even think twice about us back home. We sent plenty of emails from back home to both Logan and Camryn, however they couldn't find the time to send one back.
The theme for camp was Dream Week. Everything was based around the kids dreams. They started camp off with standing in a circle with a rope and writing their dreams on the rope. They then talked about their dreams and cut their piece of rope off to take home. After that the fun just continued from there. They went swimming, did archery, went on a hike, had arts and crafts, learned about diabetes, and sang silly songs plus much more. They were constantly on the go and having loads of fun. On Wednesday they went on a hike and had a picnic lunch. After lunch they preceeded to have what they called Dream Sleeze. They did contest for the smelliest feet and armpits, the dirtiest socks, biggest bunch of shoes tied together, and the sleeziest camp counsler. After seeing some of the pics I felt so bad for the counslers. The kids sat their counslers down and then put bottle after bottle of sunscreen (so glad my $5 bottle of sunscreen went to good use) in the counslers hair, along with cans of soda pop. It looked so disgusting!!!! The next night they had movie night in the arts and crafts hall. The kids all took their blankets and pillows to watch Bedtime Stories. Most have them had seen it but stiil had a great time. Thursday night they had a big goodbye party and dance. My son of course won the award at camp for being the camp ladies man LOL. He proved it even more at the dance where he dance several slow dances with the girls, many of them older then him!!! He recieved many letters from different girls at camp and came home with their email addresses to boot. By Friday I couldn't wait to go pick Logan and my niece Camryn up. When we got to camp to get them I got a better reception from my adorable niece Camryn. As soon as she saw me she came running and jumped into my arms, I could have cried. Logan on the other hand was like your here already???? I have to admit it made me a little sad. However he made up for it with all the hugs and kisses he gave after we were clear of all his camp friends. I was so glad to get him home and hear all about camp and see all the neat things he bought with his money and made. I think we all grew up a little as a family. It wasn't easy, but I think next year will be a lot better for me as the mom, and yes he is already talking about going NEXT YEAR !!!!! Well baseball season has come to an end once again. Riley had such a great time this year. He really excelled on his coach pitch team, The Pirates. He has such a love for baseball. This season Ry competed in the home run derby for his age group. He did such a great job. He chose to be pitched to instead of hitting off the tee. He took second place, the girl that took first hit all hers off the tee. We are so proud of him. Logan had a rough start to his baseball season this year. He had an okay start to the season, but two games into the season Logan broke his elbow in a 4-wheeler accident. He was out for 4 weeks with his arm. When he came back he played better then ever. We had a joke from then on that he should have broke his arm along time ago, since he was playing so well. The Giants had a great season over all. The finished the season right in the middle of the pack. We had such a great time watching the boys again this year. I am partially happy and sad to see the season end. We will be back again next year.
